Numerous snow parks, slopes and cross country trails in Chamonix harbor great skiing resorts. The winters are a great time in the 3 main skiing areas here - Brévent/Flégère, the Grands Montets, and the Balme area offering world class skiing.
7 kms away is Argentière at the base of Les Grands Montets with the finest piece of lift-served ski terrain in the world. It’s an immense area with an array of pistes and vast powder fields off-piste. High up in the Haute Savoie region, it is favored by more advanced skiers for challenging black-piste skiing.
Les Houches ski-resort located 5 kms from Chamonix has the ski domain extending from an altitude of 950 meters up to 1900 meters. The pistes of Les Houches are regularly used for international events. Of all the resorts in the region this is the most family friendly with gentler pistes and woody slopes.
Le Tour barely two miles across is accessed by Charamillon chairlift that serves a variety of rolling red runs. There are also a number of gentle drag lifts. Endless runs through the trees makes this a coveted spot in bad weather.
